Minister Mrkic visits St. Petersburg |

 Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dimitriy Rogozin in St. Petersburg. They discussed bilateral relations between Russia and Serbia and agreed that the relations between the two countries were better than ever before. Mrkic informed Rogozin, who was interested in the implementation of the Brussels Agreement, about the conduct of negotiations between the implementation teams of Belgrade and Pristina, about the difficulties of an objective nature and problems caused by other factors. Minister Mrkic said to the Russian Deputy PM that when it comes to the Brussels Agreement, Serbia continued the course in the direction of what it had agreed to and that it would, in no way, enter into a "creative" interpretation that the other side occasionally tended to impose.

 Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union Dusko Lopandic presented his credentials to President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy. In his conversation with Ambassador Lopandic, President Van Rompuy emphasized his support and personal commitment to the European integration process, along with his belief that the European Council will make a positive decision, at the end of the week, on commencing negotiations on Serbia's accession to the EU.

 From our point of view, we deserved a positive assessment in any sense and that the European Council would decide to name the date for the opening of negotiations with Serbia on its full membership of the European Union, said Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic in an interview for the Portuguese new agency "Lusa" during his recent visit to Lisbon.
