MFA on the latest situation in Egypt PDF Print E-mail

MinistryThe citizens of Serbia who are on vacation in the Egyptian resorts are well and safe. There are around 1,600 tourists and 48 Serbian nationals legally residing in Egypt. The tourist authorities of Egypt informed the Embassy that there are no obstacles preventing tourists from enjoying their holidays in Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh. No one has approached the Serbian Embassy in Cairo requesting help or notifying that he/she is in some trouble as a result of the situation in Egypt.

Mrkic OSCESerbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic assessed in Vienna, today, that after being known only for troubles some years ago, Serbia has now taken responsibility for the region and beyond.
Following the session of the OSCE Permanent Council where he presented, together with his Swiss colleague Didier Burkhalter, their joint workplan for the consecutive Chairmanship-in-Office of the OSCE, Mrkic said that this was a good day for Serbia.

Mrkic OSCESerbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic assessed today in Vienna that the decision by the European Council on opening accession talks with Serbia was recognition of a positive development, and an encouraging signal that Serbia had become a reliable partner.

Speaking before the Permanent Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) he said that ever since the new Serbian Government was formed, it had made remarkable efforts towards establishing stability and good relations in the region.

Mrkic - BildtForeign Ministers of Serbia and Sweden, Ivan Mrkic and Carl Bildt agreed today that, following the decision on opening its EU accession negotiations, Serbia's attention should be focused on economic development.
At his joint press conference with Bildt, Mrkic stated that new investments were discussed in that context.

Mrkic: Croatia in the EU – Region moving in the right direction PDF Print E-mail

Minister MrkicSerbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic expressed his satisfaction that Croatia was becoming a full-fledged member of the European Union, because - as he put it – this meant that the region was moving in the right direction.

"The region is moving in the right direction. I am very glad that Croatia will be in the EU as from tomorrow. It deserves that. Croatia has been very helpful lately and extended support to us at all meetings," Mrkic said in Zagreb.
