Ivan MrkicMinister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic will pay a visit to the People's Republic of China as a member of the state-business delegation led by President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic, from 26 to 29 August 2013.
Minister Mrkic will meet with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, on 26 August. This is the first visit of Serbian top officials since the election of the new Chinese leadership.

logo-ns-dnevnikaZagreb's political scientist Davor Gienero assessed that Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic acted with diplomatic wisdom and skill when he recently stated that Serbia's Counter Memorial, filed to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, would be withdrawn immediately after Croatia had dropped its case before the Court, thus removing the mistrust existing in the dispute.
Gienero said for "Dnevnik" that Mrkic's position reflected continuation of the policy of promoting the bilateral relationship and was completely along the lines of a slowly evolving process since Mrkic took the helm as the Serbian Foreign Minister that would eventually bring about an extrajudicial settlement.

Answering the question about the time when the bill providing for a number of changes in the Serbian Foreign Service will be submitted in the parliamentary procedure, Minister Mrkic said: "We hope that the new draft Law on foreign affairs will be before the National Assembly in September. The Law is still undergoing the process of public debate, and all factors which might have an effect on its final shape and form have been familiarized with the draft text."

The delegation of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was headed by Ambassador Roksanda Nincic, Assistant Minister and Head of the Department for Multilateral Cooperation, and the Russian delegation was led by Ivan Soltanovski, Director of the Department of Pan-European Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
