FOREIGN MINISTER JEREMIC IN BRUSSELS


Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic travels tomorrow to Brussels to address the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs.

During his visit to Brussels, Minister Jeremic will meet with the President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek, EU Commissioner for Enlargements Olli Rehn, as well as the members of the EP Western Balkan Group Doris Pack, Hannes Swoboda and Jelko Kacin.

MINISTER JEREMIC TO VISIT JAPAN

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic travels tomorrow for a two-day-visit to Japan where he will meet with his counterpart, Minister Katsuya Okada and with the Speakers of both houses (upper and lower house) of Parliament of Japan, Satsuki Edo and Takahiro Yokomichi, respectively.

On this visit to Tokyo Minister Jeremic will also have meetings with the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Ms. Sadako Ogata, and with the Vice Governor of the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Mr. Yoshihiko Morita.

MINISTER JEREMIĆ AND GERMAN AMBASSADOR MASS SIGN LETTER OF INTENT

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić and His Excellency Mr. Wolfram Mass, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Belgrade, signed today a Letter of Intent expressing the readiness to exchange suitable properties for the purposes of the German School in Belgrade.

Signing of the Letter of Intent is an expression of the mutual desire to further promote the good bilateral relations between Serbia and Germany through the common education of Serbian and German school children.

Minister Jeremić and Ambassador Mass agreed on the necessity of both countries’ support in the realization of this project which would help them to get to know and understand each other better.

MINISTER JEREMIC CONVEYS HIS CONDOLENCES TO THE FRENCH FOREIGN MINISTER

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic telephoned French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner to express his deepest condolences at the death of Frenchman Brice Taton.

Minister Jeremic conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved Taton family and to the French authorities, underlining that Serbia and its citizens were equally shocked and devastated by the news of this death.

Minister Jeremic condemned any acts of violence and reiterated that Serbia had always been a hospitable nation. He also said that Belgrade’s authorities would do their utmost to prevent a tragedy like this ever again casting a shadow on the country’s image in the world.

MINISTER JEREMIC TO VISIT MOROCCO

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic will make a bilateral visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

During his visit in the Moroccan capital Rabat, Minister Jeremic will have meetings with Prime Minister Abbas al-Fassi, Foreign Minister Taib Fassi-Fhri, Speaker of the upper house of Parliament (President of the Assembly of Councillors) Mustapha Mansouri and Speaker of the lower house of Parliament (President of the Assembly of Representatives) Maati Benkaddour.

In Rabat Minister Jeremic’s agenda with his counterparts will include such matters as further promotion of bilateral relations, economic cooperation and the support of the Kingdom of Morocco for Serbia’s diplomatic efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

FOREIGN MINISTER JEREMIC MEETS WITH
UN HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR REFUGEES

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic met today with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres.

During the meeting, the discussions focused on the resolution of the problem of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Serbia.

Minister Jeremic particularly highlighted the need for an early return of all refugees to the Republic of Croatia and the return of IDPs from Kosovo and Metohija.

It was noted that all refugees and IDPs must be ensured a safe return and the use of the property they are currently deprived of.

Jeremic and Guterres agreed on the necessity of holding an international conference on the resolution of the refugee problem in the region, which should take place in Belgrade by the end of the year.
