SERBIA CO-ORGANISES 41ST INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF DIRECTORS OF DIPLOMATIC ACADEMIES

The 37th Annual Meeting of Directors and Deans of Diplomatic Academies or Institutes for International Relations, held in Vienna on 23-25 September 2009, set the timetable for the period to come: Malaysia (2010), United States (2011), Azerbaijan (2012) and Austria/Serbia (2013).

The Meeting entrusted the “Koca Popovic” Diplomatic Academy of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the task of co-organising, with the Vienna Diplomatic Academy, the 41st Annual Directors’ and Deans’ Meeting. This international meeting of sorts should be held in September 2013, in Vienna and Belgrade with the aim of promoting the diplomatic education and training process and contributing to the affirmation of regional, Danube river cooperation.

VISIT BY THE STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION "DIPLOMATIC FORUM" OF THE FACULTY OF POLITICAL SCIENCE

With a view to contributing to the project “Serbian Diplomacy from the Second Half of the 20th Century until Nowadays” of the Students’ Association “Diplomatic Forum of the Faculty of Political Science”, the Diplomatic Academy hosted a lecture given by Ambassador Slobodan Marinkovic, Director of the Diplomatic Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Lecture focused on the importance of the Protocol Department-diplomatic ceremonial, etiquette and precedence as well as the ways this function is carried out. Showing their great interest by asking many questions, students contributed to the inter-activeness of the event, thus making it useful for their further professional orientation.

In his introductory remarks, Ambassador Bozin Nikolic, Director of the Diplomatic Academy, laid out the structure and legal competences of the Ministry, particularly the role and professional concept of the Diplomatic Academy.

Representatives of the "Diplomatic Forum" thanked for the warm welcome, and especially for being given the opportunity to visit the ceremonial premises of the Ministry where part of the ceremonial activities presented in the lecture takes place.

SEMINAR ON EUROPEAN SECURITY AND DEFENCE POLICY

Belgrade, 6-7 April 2009

At the initiative of the Directorate General for NATO and Defence Affairs, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic, the Seminar on European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP) was held in Belgrade on 6-7 April 2009.

The participants from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant government departments were addressed by the Assistant Foreign Minister and Director General for NATO and Defence Affairs, Mr. Zoran Vujic, Ambassador of Greece in Belgrade, H.E. Mr. Dimostenis Stoidis, and by the Director of the Diplomatic Academy, Ambassador Bozin Nikolic.

Esteemed diplomatic representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the  the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Teoharis Lalakos, Deputy Political Director and Director of the Directorate for CFSP/ESDB as well as diplomats Elena Goulousi and Ilias Kremidas from the same Directorate also spoke about European Security and Defence Policy, civil and military crisis management and the European Security Strategy (ESS) as well as about the ESPD prospects.

WORKING CONSULTATIONS  BETWEEN THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA AND THE DIRECTORATE FOR PUBLIC DIPLOMACY, DIPLOMATIC EDUCATION AND ANALYTICAL RESEARCH OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA

Working consultations between the representatives of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Directorate for Public Diplomacy, Diplomatic Education and Analytical Research of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. In the thorough exchange of views, the two sides emphasized many opportunities for cooperation, promoting and intensifying activities in the field of education and training of diplomats of the two neighbouring countries as well as the need to sign agreements on cooperation in the mentioned areas.

Participants, headed by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Zvonimir Popovic, and Ambassador Bozin Nikolic, Director of the Diplomatic Academy, were received by Ambassador Milovan Bozinovic, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director General for Bilateral Relations. Ambassador Bozinovic supported these activities and pointed to the importance of the good-quality diplomatic training and efficient diplomacy.
