natoFirst Counsellor in the Foreign Policy Sector of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sasa Kostic participated in the public discussion "Partnership Tour" organized at the City of Kragujevac Assembly within the project implemented by the Atlantic Council of Serbia, in cooperation with the Slovak Atlantic Commission in Serbia, with the support of the Slovak Aid and NATO Public Diplomacy Section. The project is a follow-up to the perennial work of the Atlantic Council of Serbia on dislocating debate on major security issues from the Capital and bringing this subject-matter closer to the people of other Serbian towns.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic confers with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of PR China Sung Tao PDF Print E-mail

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic had talks, on 12 October 2013, with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (DMFA) of PR China Sung Tao, who visited Belgrade to hold a coordination meeting with the Chinese Ambassadors serving in the region of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), in the framework of the preparations for the China –CEE Summit to be held in Bucharest, in late November 2013. MFA Mrkic and DMFA Sung assessed that Serbia-China relations were characterized by traditional friendship and a high level of mutual confidence and support. They underlined the great importance of the recent visit by President Nikolic to China and the joint efforts aimed at implementing the agreements reached on that occasion.

Convinced of the inherent inhumanity of the death penalty, 42 signatory countries represented here oppose its use under any circumstances anywhere in the world. The death penalty is not only an ntolerable affront to human dignity, its use goes hand in hand with numerous violations of the human rights of the condemned and their families. Moreover, capita! punishment has no positive impact on crime prevention or security and does not in any way repair the harm done to the victims and their families. Armed with these convictions, we take the opportunity presented by the 11th World Day against the Death Penalty to reiterate our unrelenting dedication to the abolition movement in Europe and all over the world.

Mrkic - BeyaniMinister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic met with the Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Chaloka Beyani. Minister Mrkić informed Beyani of the perennial problem of a large number of IDPs from Kosovo and Metohija and the lack of basic conditions for their return to the province.
