Bern: Sretenje Medal to Prof. Dr. Afxendios Kalangos PDF Print E-mail

Representative of President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic, presented the Sretenje Medal of the second class to Professor Dr. Afxendios Kalangos, Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the University Hospital of Geneva. Professor Dr. Kalangos was awarded for his extraordinary achievements in humanitarian work in Serbia, where he has provided pro bono surgical treatment for children and adults, while his charitable organization “Hearts for All” has for years donated medical equipment to many health institutions in the country. The event was attended by representatives of the Swiss Foreign Ministry, diplomatic corps, esteemed representatives of Serbian and Greek diasporas in Switzerland, and also by many colleagues of Professor Kalangos.

Cairo: Performance of Serbian Pianist PDF Print E-mail

koncertKairoAs part of “Four Seasons” event, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Egypt and the Cairo Opera House organized concerts of pianist Ivan Basic, held on 16 April at the Arab Music Institute in Cairo, and on the following day at Alexandria Opera House. Performance of the Serbian pianist rated highly in the local artistic and intellectual circles, while the concert was covered by the national Egyptian Television Network.

Salzburg: Concert of “Ivo Lola Ribar” sing and dance company from Belgrade PDF Print E-mail

salzburgWith the support of the MFA Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, and in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Salzburg, a concert of “Ivo Lola Ribar” sing and dance company from Belgrade was organized by the Culture and Sports Association of Serbs in Salzburg, on 20 March 2015 at the “Odeon” cultural center.
The two-hour spectacular show of the ensemble received standing ovations from more than two hundred visitors. In addition to high-ranking officials of the city of Salzburg, the event was attended by Consul Generals of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Turkey.

Bern: Concert of clarinettist Milos Mijatovic PDF Print E-mail

fotoThe Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Bern organized a concert on 17 March 2015, with Milos Mijatovic, Professor of clarinet at the Faculty of Arts in Nis, and Stephan Siegenthaler, Professor of clarinet at the University of Bern sharing the bill. The concert was held in honour of Professor Siegenthaler who donated nine clarinets from his private collection to the students of the University of Nis.

The award ceremony and exhibition opening were held on Sunday, 15 March 2015 and attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture and foreign embassies, students, contestants, media representatives and numerous guests. The event has been widely covered by the Egyptian media.

New Delhi: Serbian Ambassador meets Nobel Peace Prize Laureate PDF Print E-mail

newdelhiAmbassador of the Republic of Serbia in India, Mr. Vladimir Maric visited at the seat of the Save the Childhood Movement the movement’s founder and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Kailash Satyarthi, on 18 February 2015. In the meeting, Ambassador Maric congratulated Mr. Satyarthi on the award and the interlocutors deliberated about the possibility of the establishment of cooperation between the two countries in the area of children’s rights. The Nobel Prize Laureate stressed that the creation of a global organization intended to address the overall child welfare would be one of his aims in the coming period, and that therefore children’s rights defenders from Serbia and the region could also take part in this organization’s activities. Mr. Satyarthi accepted the invitation to visit Serbia.
