London: Documentary film „Serbia in the Great War” PDF Print E-mail

The documentary film by the author Sladjana Zaric, titled “Serbia in the Great War”, was presented on 2 June, at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in London. This cultural event was realized in cooperation of the Serbian Embassy with the crew of the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS). In his opening remarks for the evening, Ambassador Ognjen Pribicevic expressed his delight that London was the place of the film’s first screening outside Serbia. In addition to numerous guests, representatives of the diplomatic corps and Serbian diaspora, and historian Milos Kovic, the screening of the film was also attended by Sir Thomas Troubridge, the grandson of Admiral Ernest Troubridge, whose role in the Serbian Army during World War I and contribution to the defence of Belgrade are to be featured in the forthcoming RTS documentary “Serbs in Corfu Island”.

Moscow: “Alexander Nevsky”, “Valaam Monastery” – photographic exhibitions, “Ghzel” porcelain exhibition PDF Print E-mail

file-page1The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Moscow and St. Andrew the Apostle Fund organized an official opening of photographic exhibitions “Alexander Nevsky – the Name of Russia” and “Valaam - the Island of the Transfiguration”. The exhibition of “Ghzel” porcelain products was held at the same, dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the existence of this old Russian handicraft. The cultural event was attended by representatives of the Diplomatic Corps and renowned Russian social, political, educational and cultural institutions, representatives of the Russian Federation’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Orthodox Church, and also by successful Serbian businessmen.

Tunisia: Screening of the film “Beograd” PDF Print E-mail

Amsterdam: Serbian Cinematography Day PDF Print E-mail

fotografijaThe “Network” organization for the promotion of Serbian art and culture in the Netherlands hosted, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in The Hague, the third Serbian Cinematography Day in Amsterdam on 31 May 2015. The event was opened with the introductory remarks by Ambassador Petar Vico of Serbia, followed by the screening of films “See you in Montevideo” and “Dying Away”. This cultural event drew considerable attention of both Dutch and Serbian audiences.

foto Ambasador_Matkovic_u_GKAmbassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United States of America Djerdj Matkovic visited Chicago between 14 and 15 May 2015, where he met with representatives of the Serbian community. On the occasion, Ambassador Matkovic visited the Holy Resurrection Cathedral, Serbian-American Museum “Saint Sava” and the “Saint Sava” Academy, and was also informed about the work of the only school in Chicago that holds classes in the Serbian language. Special emphais was laid on the opportunities for the enhancement of economic ties between the Diaspora and the home country. In this context, Ambassador Matkovic made a visit to PMI Cartoning Inc.,
Elk Grove Village, which expressed its interest in investing in Serbia. Moreover, the Ambassador’s meeting with representatives of the business sector and the Diaspora titled “Importance of the Diaspora in Economic Cooperation with Serbia: Opportunities and Challenges” was held at the Consulate-General, in cooperation with the Serbian-American Chamber of Commerce. In the discussions Ambassador Matkovic had with the officials of the State of Illinois, views were exchanged on further cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and Illinois, i.e. Belgrade and Chicago, two sister cities.

Cairo: Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Cairo marked the Victory Day over Fascism PDF Print E-mail

70god pobedaOn the occasion of marking the 70th anniversary of Victory over Fascism, the "Balkan New Wave" theatre company from Belgrade performed a musical play titled "The Dream of the Balkans", on 8 May 2015, at the Residence of Ambassador Dragan Bisenic. The performance was attended by high-ranking officials from Egypt and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps and Serbian diaspora. This cultural event was received exceptionally well both by the attendants, and numerous Egyptian media outlets.
