Milan: Youth Philharmonic “Davorin Jenko” gives a performance at Auditorium of Milan PDF Print E-mail

filharmonija Milano_foto_03A music event "Reaching out to the world", hosted by the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi and sponsored by the Consulates General of the Republic of Serbia and Spain, with the assistance of the Milan and Lombardy Regional Chamber of Commerce, took place in Milan on 31 October 2015. The participants of the event were junior members of orchestras and choirs from Italy, Spain and Serbia. The "Davorin Jenko" Youth Philharmonic Orchestra from Belgrade, led by conductor Nenad Popovic, had a very successful performance.

Buenos Aires: Inauguration of “Routes of Roman Emperors in Serbia” exhibition PDF Print E-mail

buenos a311015An exhibition titled Itinerarium Romanum Serbiae (Routes of Roman Emperors in Serbia) was inaugurated at the Culture Ministry of the City of Buenos Aires exhibition hall in Buenos Aires, on 31 October 2015, within the Museums Night event. The exhibition was opened by Prof. Dr. Miomir Korac, Director of the Serbian Archeological Institute, Maria Vittoria Alcaraz, Under-Secretary for Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and Ms. Tatjana Conic, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Argentina. The opening of the exhibition was attended by numerous representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, Argentinian institutions, the academia, the Serbian Diaspora and the Argentinian media. During the Museums Night event alone, the exhibition was visited by several thousand visitors.

Bern: Bust of Dr. Archibald Reiss officially unveiled PDF Print E-mail

arcibalda rajs_bistaDr. Archibald Reiss’s bust, authored by the academic sculptor Ljubisa Mancic, was officially unveiled on the premises of the Serbian Embassy in Bern, on 26 September 2015, within the event called “Serbian Culture Days in Switzerland”, thanks to the financial support by the MFA Administration for Cooperation with the Diaspora and the Serbs in the Region. The founders’ meeting of the Swiss-Serbian Friendship Society, bearing the name of this famous Swiss, was held on the occasion. The event lasted for ten days and was closed on Sunday, 27 September 2015, with concerts given by the “Princess Milica” culture and art society from Serbia and the “Kolo” culture and art society from Baden.

Buenos Aires: Exhibition “Serbia in 1914” PDF Print E-mail

buenos aires208015The exhibition “Serbia in 1914” was inaugurated at the Argentine Chamber of Deputies, in Buenos Aires, on 19 August 2015, and was co-hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, the Historical Museum of the Republic of Serbia and the Argentine National Congress. The exhibition of the Historical Museum of Serbia that opened the ceremonies marking WWI centenary, constituted part of an exhibition awarded by ICOM as the best exhibition in Serbia in 2014. MP Guillermo Carmona, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies, and Ms. Tatjana Conic, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Buenos Aires, addressed the guests and the audience at the opening. Moreover, the String Orchestra of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies gave a performance, playing the composition titled “Dances from Serbia”, prepared for this occasion by the staff of the Belgrade University School of Music, Department for Ethnomusicology. The Buenos Aires exhibition will run until 4 September 2015.

Montevideo: Opening of the “Itinerarium Romanum Serbiae” Exhibition PDF Print E-mail

Poster Montevideo_2015The exhibition Itinerarium Romanum Serbiae opened on Thursday, 24 September 2015, at the Montevideo Museum of Art History, hosted by the Serbian Archaeological Institute, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Municipality of Montevideo. The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Miomir Korac, Director of the Serbian Archaeological Institute, who used the occasion to recall the importance that the archaeological site of Viminacium had in Serbia. The value and the high quality of the exhibition were also highlighted by the Manager of the Museum of Art History, Gustavo Ferrari, who added that this exhibition was treating a subject still not widely known in that part of Latin America.
