 Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic is confident that Serbia is the next to become an EU Member State. Mrkic said that his conviction was based on the statements made by the states that had already joined the European family, observing with a critical eye that much remained to be done along that path. "I firmly believe in this. My belief rests mainly upon the friendship and support expressed by our partners from the EU and I know that we will not disappoint them."

 Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic said that Serbia would withdraw its Counter Memorial filed to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague as soon as Croatia dropped its case concerning the Genocide Convention.
"Serbia is ready for an extrajudicial settlement of the proceedings between Belgrade and Zagreb pending before the International Court of Justice in The Hague for more than a decade, on genocide charges; but it is upon Croatia to make the first move".
