Dacic - MitchellFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic had talks in Washington, D.C. with the newly appointed U.S. Assistant Secretary of State responsible for European Affairs and Eurasian Affairs, Wess Mitchell.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy was the first Serbian official to have talks with this high official of the U.S. Administration.

"The talks were very complex, and my focus on one topic only – the way to find a common interest between the U.S. and Serbia. Bearing in mind the friendship that has lasted for centuries and the long tradition of diplomatic relations, I insisted on finding the minimum of common interests, if we cannot find the maximum, in order to jointly contribute to the stability of our region.

In this regard, the meeting with Mitchell was highly important, and I expect him to visit Serbia next year.

Serbia is fostering a constructive approach, willing to contribute to the stability of the region, but wants its interests to be respected too, and a just and lasting solution to be reached for all problems in the region, especially for the issue of Kosovo and Metohija", said Dacic after the meeting.
