In the talks, the officials assessed the current political and security situation in Kosovo and Metohija, prospects of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and the activity of UNMIK. They underlined the importance of further engagement of the Mission, undiminished in scope, in areas vital for the survival, normal and dignified life of Serbs and persons belonging to other non-Albanian communities in Kosovo and Metohija. In the context of attempts made to change the format of UN Security Council sessions on the work of UNMIK, Minister Dacic underscored that that it was highly important for the Republic of Serbia and for stability in the region to continue, as before, with regular and transparent consideration of all problems encountered in Kosovo in Metohija as long as UNSCR 1244 was in force. Minister Dacic expressed particular gratitude for the efforts made in the fulfilment of the UNMIK mandate as well as his expectation that the Mission would continue to perform its mandate in accordance with UNSC Resolution 1244 (1999), in the coming period as well. |
