In the Greek town of Katerini, the Head of Serbian diplomacy attended the ceremony of presenting the Charter of Honorary Citizen to President of the Municipal Assembly of Jagodina Dragan Markovic.
The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Antic, Serbian Consul to Thessaloniki Sinisa Pavic, senior officials of Jagodina and Katerini, and representatives of the Greek Orthodox Church.

The Charter was handed over to Mr. Markovic by Savvas Chionidis, the Mayor of Katerini, which is the capital of the Pieria regional unit on the coast of the Aegean Sea.

He welcomed the representatives of the Serbian Government Dacic and Antic, expressing his desire to strengthen cooperation between Katerini and Jagodina, Greece and Serbia.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy stressed that every visit is a great opportunity for friendly talks on all issues of common interest and clarification of potential misunderstandings.

Minister Dacic underlined that Greece and Serbia were two friendly countries and urged for even closer cooperation at all levels.

“I must say that, and I am sure that most of the Serbs share this opinion, it is in Serbian people’s very being to have a sense of primordial connection with the peoples of Russia and Greece”, Minister emphasized.

He said that Markovic being awarded honorary citizenship by the town of Katerini was a great honor, noting that he was an esteemed politician, one of the rare of his kind in Serbia always willing to stay in his own town, Jagodina, and support its development.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy congratulated Markovic, expressing his gratitude and hope that this move would contribute to even stronger relations between Greece and Serbia.
