Venice Biennale

Venice, August-November 2012 - At the 13th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, 29 August – 25 November 2012, the Republic of Serbia is presented in its national Pavilion by an exhibition "One table/100" organized by the Association of Architects of Serbia (UAS). UAS President, Mr Igor Maric is, at the same time, the Commissioner of the Serbian exhibition.

Exhibition “History of Algerian-Yugoslav Relations”

Algiers, July 2012 - On the occasion of celebrating the 50th anniversary of independence and fifty years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, an exhibition "History of Algerian-Yugoslav Relations" was opened at the Culture House in Algiers on 3 July 2012. The Exhibition resulted from the good collaboration between the Archive of Yugoslavia and the National Archive of Algeria. The opening ceremony was attended by many officials, including Acting Director of the Archive of Yugoslavia M. Milosevic, by media representatives, the Diplomatic Corps, officials of the Algerian Foreign Ministry, while guests of honour were the eminent Algerian revolution veteran and former Algerian Ambassador to the SFRY El Arbi El Attrus and Serbian Ambassador to Algeria M. Sestovic. The Exhibition is due to be shown in the other Algerian towns, as well, by July 2013.

The World in Serbia Project

Belgrade, July 2012 - At "Radojka Lakic" student recreational centre on Mt. Avala, Serbian Minister of Education and Science Prof Dr Zarko Obradovic awarded, on 12 July 2012, certificates of completion of a one-year course in the Serbian language organized by the University of Belgrade for scholarship holders from the member states and observers of the Non-Aligned Movement in the framework of the World in Serbia Project for the academic year 2011/2012. Out of 106 holders of this scholarship who sat the final exam in Serbian, 104 were successful.

Sava Sumanovic Exhibition

Banja Luka, July 2012 - The Modern Art Museum of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka showed, on 7 July-5 August 2012, an exhibition of Sava Sumanovic paintings to commemorate the 70th anniversary of death of this famous Serbian artist and sixty years of the work of the Gallery in Sid named after him. The exhibition was opened by the President of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Milorad Dodik, accompanied by the Serbian Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society, Mr Predrag Markovic, who spoke to the invitees about the importance of Sumanovic works. The exhibition was given considerable attention by the media and attracted many visitors. It was organized in cooperation with the Sava Sumanovic Art Gallery of Sid and the Modern Art Museum of the Republic of Srpska of Banja Luka, and with the support of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Consulate General in Banja Luka.

Exhibition of Milena Pavlovic Barilli’s paintings - Trieste

Trieste, May 2012 - Following the Rijeka City Museum, an exhibition of Milena Pavlovic Barilli's paintings was staged at the Constance Palace in Trieste, 30 May-17 June 2012. The exhibition was opened by Serbian Ambassador to Rome Ana Hrustanovic, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Trieste. It was organized by the Milena Dom Foundation – Milena Pavlovic Barilli Gallery of Pozarevac, the city of Trieste, Serbian Orthodox Community of Trieste, with the support of the Serbian Ministry of Culture, Media and Information Society and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Serbia as a guest of honour at the International Book Fair

Thessaloniki, May 2012 - At the 9th International Book Fair in Thessaloniki, 24-27 May 2012, Serbia was an honour guest. Serbian Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society Predrag Markovic attended the official opening of the Fair. The Serbian stand presented the greats of Serbian literature and Serbian national epic and lyrical ballads, whilst Serbian folk fairytales were interpreted by a Greek actress at the Byzantine Museum. Presentation of Serbia was followed by a number of other events: an exhibition "Ivo Andric, a writer and/or diplomat" staged by the Belgrade City Museum with a public hearing on the same subject; a workshop on Serbian literature; presentation of the Greek translation of the book "Philosophic downfalls of the illustrious Justin Popovic" published by the Endowment of St. Chilandari Monastery; presentation of the Greek translation of the book entitled "Death is an unverified rumour" in the presence of its author Emir Kusturica, which was the overall best attended event of this year's Fair. Throughout the Fair there were discussions organized by the Serbian stand with Serbian authors like Dusan Kovacevic, Vida Ognjenovic, Dragan Velikic, Vladislav Bajec, Svetislav Basara and others.
