Consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania

skp_a_jovanovicConsular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Alania were held at the level of Assistant Ministers, in Tirana, on 18 January 2018.

In the consultations, both sides expressed their readiness to further develop consular relations and cooperation, and enhance the treaty relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Albania, by amending the existing and concluding new bilateral agreements. It was agreed to proceed with the harmonization of the bilateral Consular Convention, to the effect of contributing to better protection of the rights and interests of the nationals of the two countries.

Both sides expressed their expectation that the consular relations will continue to follow the trend of developing the political and economic cooperation in the future as well, and noted the existing vast possibilities for improving the current and initiating new forms of cooperation in areas of common interest. It was further noted that diplomatic and consular missions of the two countries pursued quality cooperation with relevant authorities of the respective receiving states.

In order to further enhance cooperation and continue the regular exchange of experience in the consular field, particularly in respect of providing quality consular protection and assistance to citizens, it was agreed to alternate consular consultations and also to organize joint expert meetings, as appropriate.
