Dacic and Schieb: Relations between Serbia and Germany are characterized by intensive cooperation in the political and economic field

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Belgrade Thomas Schieb.

The two interlocutors noted that bilateral relations between the two countries were at a high level and that they were characterized by intensive cooperation both in political and economic area as Germany is Serbia's number one foreign trade partner.

Minister Dacic informed his interlocutor about the latest developments regarding the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, with special focus on the Washington Agreement reached and the continuation of the Brussels dialogue. Ambassador Schieb said that Germany supports any progress achieved in the dialogue process.

Minister Dacic thanked Germany for its support to Serbia's accession path to the European Union and expressed hope that new negotiating chapters would be opened during the German Presidency.
The two sides also discussed cooperation between the two countries in international organizations.

Ambassador Schieb delivered an invitation to Minister Dacic for participation in the conference "Youth, Migration and Demographic Challenges in the Western Balkans", which will be held under the German Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The two collocutors expressed hope that the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Heiko Maas to Belgrade will take place soon.
