First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic talked on the phone today with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone Nabeela Farida Tunis.

Minister Dacic informed Minister Tunis about the epidemiological situation in Serbia, conveying that the efforts made by the country's top leadership and health experts resulted in the decrease in number of infectious Covid-19 cases. He voiced hope that the health situation would soon normalize in Sierra Leone as well and expressed condolences over the lives lost to Covid-19 in that country.

In the conversation, views were exchanged on modalities of future cooperation between Serbia and Sierra Leone. The officials noted that it was necessary to continue activities, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, aimed at the further solidification of relations in areas of common interest, such as agriculture, education, healthcare, tourism and culture.

The Serbian Foreign Minister reiterated his deep gratitude for the Sierra Leone's decision to revoke its previous recognition of the unilateral declaration of independence of "Kosovo", emphasizing that the leadership of Sierra Leone extended in that way support to the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia and to the fundamental principles of international law and those enshrined in the UN Charter.

Ministers Dacic and Tunis explored opportunities for the intensification of top-level dialogue through the realization of presidential visits, which would give strong impetus to the promotion of bilateral cooperation.
At the end of the conversation, the Serbian Foreign Minister invited Minister Tunis to visit the Republic of Serbia in the upcoming period which she was pleased to accept.
