"The Serbian Embassy in Athens has been officially informed by the Office of the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Kyriakos Mitsotakis that Greece would close its borders for Serbian citizens from tomorrow, except for essential travel which requires a special permit", First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic said today in a statement for Tanjug news Agency.

"We warn our citizens not to leave their homes and head towards Greece to avoid the possibility of a large number of our citizens being stuck in transit or at Greek border crossings unable to enter the territory of Greece", the Minister underlined.

He added that the Serbian tourists who were already in Greece would be able to stay there as planned until the end of their paid vacation and to return to Serbia.
