Minister Dacic: gratitude to Indonesia for providing humanitarian aid to Serbia to support its fight against COVID-19

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received a courtesy call from Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Yasonna Laoly who is on an official visit to Serbia.

Minister Dacic underscored that the relations between Serbia and Indonesia, established 66 years ago, were traditionally friendly and that the high-level dialogue contributed to their further enhancement. The Minister expressed expectation that Serbia and Indonesia would accomplish even better results in the upcoming period, particularly in the fields of economic, parliamentary, educational, scientific, cultural and sports cooperation.

Minister Dacic said that he was pleased with the high-level of understanding between Serbia and Indonesia about the issues of crucial importance for the two countries. He expressed special gratitude to Indonesia for its principled and unequivocal position of non-recognition of the unilateral declaration of independence of the so-called Kosovo, as well as for its continued support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.

Both sides reasserted their readiness to further strengthen high-level dialogue. In that context, Minister Dacic voiced hope that Indonesia's Minister of Foreign Affairs would pay a visit to Serbia in the upcoming period.

Minister Dacic also expressed Serbia's gratitude to Indonesia for providing humanitarian aid in the fight against the spread of COVID-19, in particular for medical equipment package which Minister Laoly delivered to Serbia, on behalf of the Government of Indonesia. The Minister highlighted that mutual solidarity was an essential and necessary precondition to overcoming the impacts of the global health crisis.

Minister Laoly thanked Minister Dacic for receiving him, reaffirming Indonesia's interest to further enhance traditional friendly relations with Serbia. The Minister expressed conviction that his visit would contribute to the further raising the bilateral relations between Serbia and Indonesia to an even higher level, in the period ahead. He therefore highlighted the importance of strengthening economic cooperation and having regular political dialogue.

Indonesia's Minister expressed gratitude for the exceptional cooperation between the two countries at the multilateral level and, in particular, for Serbia's support for Indonesia's candidacy for a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2019-2020 period. Minister Laoly reaffirmed Indonesia's principled position regarding the non-recognition of the unilateral declaration of independence of "Kosovo".
