First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic talked on the phone with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ecuador José Valencia.

Minister Dacic informed Minister Valencia about the current epidemiological situation in Serbia caused by the COVID-19 virus and the steps taken to gradually normalize the situation and lift the restrictive measures.

He expressed solidarity with the people and Government of Ecuador amid the situation in the country and condolences for the toll on human life taken there, voicing hope that the situation would be successfully resolved in the foreseeable future.

Both sides affirmed readiness for the further strengthening of political dialogue through an exchange of high-level visits and the maintenance of regular dialogue between the two Foreign Ministries, once the situation in both countries stabilized.

They underlined readiness to promote cooperation in all areas of mutual interest and particularly in the economic one.

In addition to bilateral issues, the collocutors discussed cooperation in the framework of international fora. Minister Dacic expressed his gratitude for the principled position of Ecuador concerning its non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called "Kosovo", as both countries emphasized their commitment to the respect for the fundamental principles of international law.

Minister Dacic recalled the open invitation to Minister Valencia for a visit to Serbia, conveying his expectation that the visit would be realized as soon as conditions were met.
