First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic talked on the phone with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

In the conversation the Ministers expressed satisfaction with the high level of political relations existing between the two countries, agreeing on the need to maintain the continuity of high and top-level political dialogue in the period ahead as well. As a demonstration of the good bilateral relations, the two collocutors pointed out the cooperation carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the Turkish side delivered medical assistance to the Republic of Serbia, while the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs arranged repatriation flights for Turkish citizens who wished to return to their country.

Minister Dacic reiterated his gratitude to the Turkish side for the assistance lent to Serbia at a difficult time when our country fought to contain the spread of the pandemic.

The Turkish Foreign Minister expressed hope that bans on foreign citizens' entry into the Republic of Turkey would be relaxed in mid-June, in order to allow for an unimpeded start of the tourist season there. He voiced hope that tourists from the Republic of Serbia would be able to spend their vacations at the Turkish seaside this year as well.

Minister Dacic stressed that the Republic of Serbia saw the Republic of Turkey as an important political and economic partner in the region, reiterating the interest on the part of Serbia for new Turkish investments, particularly in the developing parts of our country. He pointed out that the Republic of Serbia attached special attention to the economic cooperation with the Turkish side, which was a precondition for the further development of the region as a whole.

The two collocutors also discussed the promotion of cooperation and coordinated activity in the framework of international organizations.

Minister Çavuşoğlu gladly accepted the invitation by Minister Dacic to visit Serbia once the election process is over.
