First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic talked today on the phone with Ambassador of the United States of America to Serbia Anthony Godfrey.

Main focus of the conversation was on the coronavirus pandemic and the measures undertaken by the Republic of Serbia and the United States in combating this vicious disease, in their effort to protect the population.

Minister Dacic conveyed Serbia's gratitude for the US assistance pledged, particularly taking into account that the United States was one of the countries in the world struck most severely by coronavirus. The Minister recalled that the Government of the Republic of Serbia dispatched earlier today an Air Serbia plane to the States to repatriate Serbian students stranded in America amid the pandemic, but also that 170 US citizens boarded the flight returning to the United States from Serbia.

Ambassador Godfrey announced that a delivery of 6000 coronavirus test kits sent by the United States to Serbia was expected in the days ahead. He thanked Serbia for its assistance in evacuating the US citizens, reminding that Serbia had already transported 64 US citizens to their country on a humanitarian flight of 26 March 2020, and that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had in this connection addressed a letter of appreciation for this gesture to President Aleksandar Vucic.

The collocutors exchanged views on key topics in the domain of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and on the ways of promoting them further.

Minister Dacic expressed his condolences to Ambassador Godfrey over the huge toll on life taken by coronavirus in the United States, including the Ambassador's late father.
