First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received letters of appreciation from the Republic of Korea and Canada, delivered by Ambassadors Hyoung-chan Choe and Kati Csaba.

Full text of the letters is as follows:

Appreciation letter from the Republic of Korea:

Your Excellency,

On behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Korea I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude on the Serbian government's assistance in repatriating five stranded Korean nationals back home last week amid the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations last year, our two countries' relationship has developed in many areas. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Serbia, our two countries have been exploring ways of cooperation in health sector in fighting against the deadly virus, in particular, for the procurement of medical equipment necessary for patients and healthcare workers. I believe our cooperation in combating the coronavirus, our common enemy, will further strengthen the ties and friendship between our two countries.

I also sincerely hope that the Serbian government together with frontline health workers with the support of the people of Serbia defeat the COVID-19 as soon as possible.

I wish you continued good health and every success.

With best regards,
Hyoung-chan Choe
Ambassador

Thank you letter from Canada:

Dear Minister Dačić,

I am writing to thank you and the members of your team for the support provided in assisting 101 Canadians to return to Canada on April 5, 2020. In particular, I would like to note the excellent cooperation we had with the Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Dragan Petrović, whose support was indispensable. This was a complex and challenging operation, which included not only Canadians located on the territory of Serbia, but also Canadians bussed in from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia, with all travel to Belgrade airport taking place during curfew hours.
Thanks to the excellent cooperation we received from all partners, this repatriation operation was completed successfully and all 101 Canadians were able to depart as scheduled. They are now all in mandatory quarantine in Canada, and are looking forward to being reunited with family and friends.

We were also pleased that, through our charter of the Air Serbia flight from Belgrade to Frankfurt, we were able to support the return of a number of Serbian citizens who had been stranded abroad and returned on the flight from Frankfurt on April 5.

This repatriation effort is a good example of the kind of cooperation that is possible when we all work together to address the impact of COVID-19 on our countries, our communities and our people.

Thank you again!

Sincerely,
Kati Csaba
Ambassador
