"It appears to me that the main message of today's UN Security Council meeting is the publication of an internal report prepared by UNMIK team of experts who analyzed an incident in which the Pristina security forces ID'ed, arrested and used force towards UNMIK staffers inflicting grievous bodily harm on them. That is what the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Zahir Tanin said at the meeting and advanced the following conclusions: that these staffers were performing official duties and have not overstepped their authority, that the Convention on the Immunities and Privileges of the United Nations has been violated, that the staffers were seriously injured and that judicial proceedings were initiated against them. The most important conclusion is a call on Pristina to punish all responsible for these acts. This is a clear response to all explanations that Çitaku advanced at the previous UN Security Council session in an attempt to justify these acts undertaken by Pristina. All Security Council members condemned these violations against UNMIK staffers and pleaded that such acts were not repeated in the future.

We took advantage of today's session to present all examples of human rights violations against the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and expose the lies paddled by Pristina – starting with the colonization accusation, their claims that in Serbia and Yugoslavia they were denied the right to use their language and alphabet and ultimately the claims of the alleged contamination of the members of Election Commission counting the Serb ballots, the allegations dismissed by the doctors from Pristina. I called upon the international community to state its opinion on this issue and Kurti's position that the Brussels agreement is a dead letter. What is that supposed to mean? Why did we negotiate in the first place?

At the Security Council meetings, the members read their pre-drafted statements. However, compared to the period of a few years ago there is a huge difference since it is obvious that foreign policy position of Serbia has been strengthened, that the activities of President Vucic and his participation in one of the previous UNSC sessions and our overall policy contributed to better understanding of the situation in connection with Kosovo and Metohija. At this session, there were no calls for new recognitions of Kosovo, unprecedented so far. This is routinely done by USA, UK and last time I think by Germany. Things did change but we cannot be satisfied with the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, we cannot be satisfied with the way Pristina treats its international obligations. That is why it is necessary that the question of Kosovo and Metohija is discussed at the UN Security Council meetings. The next UNSC meeting is scheduled for April next year," First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said after the meeting of the UN Security Council on UNMIK.
