First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today in Baku on the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement with Malaysia's Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah.

Minister Dacic recalled that Malaysia and the SFRY used to have strong friendly relations, but that these relations had weakened over time and that efforts should be made to bring them back to life. He introduced the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia with the history of Kosovo's problems and the current situation.

The Malaysian Foreign Minister stressed that Malaysia always strove to look at the broader picture of the problem, to have good relations with everyone and not to take any sides. He said they understood the situation regarding Kosovo and Metohija, but despite the fact that Malaysia recognized Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence, he emphasized that the two countries should work to strengthen bilateral relations.

The interlocutors agreed that in order to restore cooperation, it was important to organize reciprocal bilateral visits.
