Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met today with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger.

The two collocutors discussed OSCE activities in Serbia, particularly its support to the institutions of the Republic of Serbia in the field of reforms, adoption of a media strategy and its implementation, as well as cooperation in electoral process improvements.

The importance of the OSCE for regional security and capacity building to meet the current and emerging challenges was underlined, as well as the role of the Republic of Serbia as a key factor of security, long-term stability and economic development in the region.

At a joint press conference, the Head of Serbian Diplomacy assessed that the OSCE's support to Serbia was significant.

The Minister also stressed the importance of co-operation with the OSCE as to the security issues addressed by the organization. He said he was also pleased over the co-operation with the OSCE Mission to Kosovo.

Minister Dacic recalled that the former Yugoslavia was one of the parties to the 1975 Helsinki Declaration which established the Organization.

OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger said Serbia played an important role in promoting economic co-operation for the sake of future economic stability and regional development.

"The meeting with Minister Dacic was frank and open. We discussed OSCE activities in Serbia. I was pleased to see that Serbia was a loyal and active partner to our Organization," Greminger said.
He stressed that the OSCE will continue to provide expert assistance and support to reforms in Serbia, such as the independent judiciary.
