On July 24, to mark the occasion of 140 years of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Bulgaria, an exhibition "140 Years of Serbian-Bulgarian diplomatic relations" was staged at Kalemegdan, co-organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Republic of Serbia, the Archive of Serbia and the State Archives of Bulgaria.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nebojsa Stefanovic and by Minister of Interior of the Republic of Bulgaria Mladen Marinov.

On behalf of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic, the exhibition was opened by the Head of the Neighborhood and South Eastern Europe Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Slobodan Vukcevic, and on the Bulgarian side by the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Serbia, Radko Vlaykov.

On that occasion, Ambassador Vukcevic pointed out that Bulgaria was one of the first states with which Serbia established diplomatic relations, immediately after the Congress of Berlin. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of the bilateral relations between the two countries, which were at their historic maximum, characterized by an intense political dialogue and a high level of cooperation and trust.

On his part, Ambassador Vlaykov reiterated that the two countries were bound together by a similar language, culture, tradition and by the same religion, and that their bilateral relations were based on common European values. He conveyed the intention of the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria to continue supporting Serbia on its European path.
