First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received a courtesy call from the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Serbia Raúl Bartolomé Molina , welcoming the Ambassador and wishing him the best of luck during his tenure in Belgrade.

Both sides noted that the bilateral relations were excellent and characterized by an intensified political dialogue, but that additional efforts need to be made to intensify the economic cooperation. The officials underlined as good steps in that direction the launch of Belgrade-Madrid and Belgrade-Barcelona direct flights and holding the economic forum in Madrid in September this year.

Ambassador Molina reiterated the firm position of Spain concerning the non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of so-called "Kosovo" and affirmed that Spain would continue to support the position and views presented by the Republic of Serbia in the framework of international organizations. Furthermore, Serbia can count on Spanish support to its European integration process in the future as well.

Minister Dacic stressed that Serbia highly appreciated the principled support of Spain to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia. He also underlined that Serbia would take the same positions in the future concerning the sovereignty of Spain. He expressed his hope that once the Spanish Government was formed its Prime Minister would pay a visit to Belgrade.
