Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic is visiting the Russian Federation for participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Minister Dacic also had a bilateral meeting today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

Minister Dacic underlined that he and the Russian Foreign Minister discussed the situation in Kosovo and Metohija at the meeting today, ahead of the Security Council session to take place on June 10.
He stressed that Minister Lavrov was informed in great detail about Serbia's plans on Kosovo and Metohija and stated that Lavrov had told him that Moscow absolutely supported Serbia and that their support would be clearly expressed at the upcoming UN Security Council session.

"The meeting was very important because it took place after the latest events in Kosovo and Metohija, after the incidents and incursion into northern Kosovo and attack on the UN forces, that is, against the UN mission and the Russian member of UNMIK, prior to the Security Council meeting which I will attend on Monday".

He also pointed out that Minister Lavrov was informed in detail about what Serbia would do in the coming months, "what are our positions regarding this vital issue".

"I stressed that we are ready for a compromise, but that the Albanian side does not want and constantly violates all the agreements, since it does not want to fulfill what it has signed up to six years ago, to form the Community of Serb Municipalities, lift tariffs imposed by them, nor to respect the obligations that the security and armed forces do not come to northern Kosovo. If the attack on the UN forces is added, it can be seen that they do not want to reach any solution.

Sergey Lavrov acquainted me with Russian positions and on this occasion we noted that there was very good coordination between our two leaderships and that Russia absolutely supported Serbia and that this support would be clearly expressed at the Security Council session", underlined the Serbian Foreign Minister after meeting with Minister Lavrov.
