Minister Dacic attended an inaugural reception for a new President of Panama

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic represented the Republic of Serbia at an inaugural ceremony for a new President of Panama Laurentino Cortizo, who won the presidential election in May 2019.

During the official reception to formally bid farewell to former President Juan Carlos Varela, Minister Dacic had an opportunity to informally talk with many high-ranking officials from around the world including Felipe II, King of Spain, Vice-President of El Salvador Félix Ulloa, U.S. Trade Secretary Wilbur L. Ross, Chinese Minister of Agriculture Han Changfu including Foreign Ministers of Spain, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and other high-ranking officials from political, economic and cultural life of Peru and the region.

Vice-President and Foreign Minister of Panama Isabel de Saint de Alvarado in a friendly encounter with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic highly commended the presence of the delegation of the Republic of Serbia at the inauguration ceremony for the new President of Panama, emphasizing that it was yet another confirmation of Serbia's commitment to building friendly relations with Panama, a country with which there was a tradition of good cooperation dating back to the times of former Yugoslavia.

The ceremony of handing over the power from the former President Juan Carlos Varela to the new President Laurentino Cortizo will be completed with the new President taking an oath.
