Minister Dacic underlined the importance of continued discussions at the UN Security Council sessions of the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, i.e. the importance of the presence of UN Mission in Kosovo, particularly in the light of the recent developments in the Province. Concerns were voiced regarding the complex political and security situation in Kosovo and Metohija, specially following the latest intrusion of Kosovo special forces to the north of Kosovo and an excessive use of force, not only against the Serbs in the north of Kosovo, but also against the UNMIK personnel.

Hope was expressed in the talks that UNMIK would continue to implement its mandate in line with the UNSC Resolution 1244 (1999), assessing that the upcoming UN Security Council meeting discussing the Report of the UN Secretary-General on UNMIK to be delivered on this occasion, would be an opportunity to discuss all current issues in Kosovo and Metohija.

The upcoming meeting will, at the same time, be an opportunity to discuss the implementation of UNSC Resolution 1244 (1999), adopted twenty years ago, to which SRSG for Kosovo Zahir Tanin agreed, underlining the importance of devoting further efforts to finding a solution for the Kosovo issue.
