Bilateral consultations with the Republic of Slovenia in the field of security policy and multilateral affairs

sldsrb23519Bilateral consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Slovenia in the field of security policy and multilateral relations were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.

Delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia was headed by Sabina Stadler Repnik, Director General of the Directorate for Multilateral Affairs, Development Cooperation and International Law.

The topics of discussion at the session on security policy, at which Serbian Delegation was headed by Acting Assistant Foreign Minister for Security Policy Ambassador Branimir Filipovic, included regional security, partnership cooperation between Serbia and NATO, relations between Slovenia and NATO, KFOR's role in Kosovo and Metohija, new security challenges, common foreign, security and defense policy, as well as weapons control, disarmament, non-proliferation and the fight against weapons of mass destruction.

At the session on multilateral issues, at which Serbian delegation was headed by the Head of the Department for Economic Multilateral Affairs Aleksandar Tasic, views on priorities of the UN General Assembly, UN reform processes, the Council of Europe, human rights, implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Serbia's candidature for re-election to the UNESCO Executive Board for the period 2019 - 2023 and other UN bodies, were exchanged.

During the talks, the two sides expressed satisfaction with bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as mutual commitment to further strengthening cooperation at all levels and in all areas of common interest. Slovenia reaffirmed its support to the process of Serbia's EU integration demonstrating full understanding of Serbia's foreign policy priorities, including the policy of military neutrality consistently pursued by the Republic of Serbia.
