In the cordial talks, Minister Dacic thanked Ambassador Fuertes for his personal engagement which contributed to the successful and constructive cooperation between the two countries.

The two collocutors noted that the relations between Serbia and Spain were going through the best period and may be assessed as strategic and privileged.

The Minister especially expressed gratitude to Spain for its principled position concerning the issue of Kosovo and Metohija as well as for the consistent and strong support to our country regarding its EU integration. He stressed that Spain could also count on the strong support of the Republic of Serbia to its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Serbian Foreign Minister emphasized that Serbia wanted to have as good bilateral relations with Spain were as possible, to which a visit of King Philip VI expected this year could make a special contribution. The Minister expressed his hope that after the new Spanish Government is formed, other high-ranking Spanish officials will also visit Belgrade.

The readiness to further enhance bilateral cooperation was also confirmed by the establishment of direct flights between Belgrade and Madrid, i.e. Barcelona, as of 1 June 2019 and by plans to hold the Second Business Forum Spain-Serbia in Madrid, in June 2019.

Ambassador Miguel Fuertes expressed Spain's fondness for Serbia and that during his tenure there have been even three Foreign Ministers' visits, two in Belgrade and one in Madrid. He expressed a hope that a new Foreign Minister of Spain will visit the Republic of Serbia shortly after the formation of a new Government of the Kingdom of Spain.

He underlined that he was pleased to discharge his duties in a country with which Spain fostered friendly relations and took the opportunity to once again thank for the warm treatment he received by top leadership of the Republic of Serbia, President Aleksandar Vucic, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić, and especially for the cordial talks he has always enjoyed with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic.
