1805 daccich_kongo_izjOn the occasion of his official visit to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic has met with President of DRC Felix Tshisekedi.

"The Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Serbia have a long tradition of exceptionally friendly relations.

My desire was to meet its newly elected President in order to assert the continuation of development of good bilateral relations, friendship and cooperation in the future as well.

In that context, we discussed ways to improve cooperation on the political level as well as the exchange of visits. I invited President Tshisekedi to visit Serbia in the fall, which he gladly accepted.

Our goal is to improve cooperation in the field of economy, to increase the volume of foreign trade, to have good cooperation in the fields of defense and security, to offer scholarships for students from DRC, as it was at the time of Yugoslavia, but also to be friends to one another on the international level and to support each other in international organizations.

Serbia supports the DRC both on international level and in international organizations, and we are very grateful to the DR Congo for supporting Serbia and its territorial integrity. The newly-elected President has once again stressed that his country will not change its position concerning the territorial integrity and the issue of Kosovo", the Serbian Head of Diplomacy said at a joint press conference with the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
