Minister Dacic meets with newly-appointed Head of WHO Country Office in Serbia

4ids9519 resultFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic today received the newly-appointed Head of World Health Organization Country Office in the Republic of Serbia, Dr Marijan Ivanusa. Dr Ivanusa presented his credentials to Minister Dacic who congratulated him on assuming the position of WHO Head in Serbia. The Minister welcomed Dr Ivanusa and wished him success in the discharge of his duties.

In the meeting, pleasure was conveyed at the successful development of cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the World Health Organization carried out so far, including a mutual readiness for its further deepening and strengthening. Minister Dacic expressed appreciation for various projects having been realized, particularly in the field of technical assistance and expertise, as well as for the support that the World Health Organization offered to the EU accession of Serbia and to the process of reaching the required benchmarks in the health sector of the Republic of Serbia.

Minister Dacic also pointed out that the Republic of Serbia attached particular importance to a close cooperation with the UN Team and the WHO Country Office in the implementation and popularization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly concerning SDG 3 - Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

Head of the WHO Country Office in the Republic of Serbia Marijan Ivanusa stressed that he would undertake efforts during his term to further promote an already excellent mutual cooperation, above all in priority areas for both the WHO and the Republic of Serbia such as universal health care, emergency response preparedness and the promotion of health and well-being for people.
