First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic is today on a bilateral visit to Georgia.

Minister Dacic had talks with his counterpart and host, Minister of Foreign Affairs David Zalkaliani.

In the friendly talks with the Georgian Foreign Minister, the Serbian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of good and friendly relations between the two states and peoples, while also emphasizing that he was pleased with the successful cooperation carried out in all areas of mutual interest. In this context, Minister Dacic underlined the importance of having recently established Georgia's diplomatic mission in the Republic of Serbia which would further encourage the development of bilateral cooperation. Minister Dacic thanked his host in particular for the firm position of Georgia concerning the respect for international law and the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.

Minister Dacic informed his Georgian counterpart about the ongoing reforms being pursued by the Serbian Government, the progress made by Serbia in the context of European integration, and prospects for the promotion of economic cooperation.

The two countries' Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on national-level, regional, European and global processes, and also challenges currently being at play.

The two Ministers particularly focused on the further promotion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, primarily concerning the economy.

After the meeting, the Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of youth and sport between the R. Serbia Ministry of Youth and Sport and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and a Joint Declaration by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and by the Minster of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
