Heads of Diplomacy of Serbia and Uruguay confer on bilateral relations, promotion of economic cooperation and collaboration within international organizations.

3First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic payed an official visit to Uruguay.


Minister Dacic met with his counterpart, Foreign Minister of Uruguay Rodolfo Nin Novoa, in Montevideo.

The two Ministers exchanged views on current bilateral issues with special emphasis on cooperation within international organizations, economic cooperation and on future projects.

Both sides noted mutual interest in intensifying contacts on all levels, primarily on the economic one, and exchanging experience in those fields where positive experience could be shared.

Minister Novoa informed Minister Dacic about the positions of Uruguay concerning the crisis in Venezuela, their initiatives in cooperation with other countries, Mexico in particular, and underlined that international law and non-interference in internal affairs must be respected.

The two collocutors agreed that it was necessary that bilateral political consultations be held according to the usual dynamics and that substantial agenda should be proposed for the official visit by the Foreign Minister of Uruguay to Serbia.

During his visit to Montevideo, Minister Dacic toured the "Sentenario" stadium and the Museum of Football where, in the presence of high officials, government authorities and reputable athletes, he received a symbolic gift, the copy of the ball that was used by players at the first football World Cup (Mundial).
He toured the Museum, the stadium and the famous tower which was built on the occasion of the first Mundial.
