altThe Serbian Embassy in Israel handed the Serbian citizenship to Relly Alfandari Pardo, who was born in Belgrade in 1929, where she survived the Holocaust as a girl.

The story of her life, having found shelter from the German occupiers in Serbian families homes, had Pardo referred to as the Belgrade Anne Frank in the numerous articles issued on her in the local media. Six years ago she published a memoir "It Was Only a Picnic", in Serbian and Hebrew, describing the war years and her experience.

Relly Alfandari Pardo has lived in Israel since 1949 where she has a family whose younger generations have continued to foster the Serbian-Israeli ties.
