Serbia's Honorary Consul in Flanders Aleksandar Davidovic received the Leopold Order of Merit for bringing the peoples and institutions of Belgium and Serbia together at a ceremony on September 25 in Kontich (Antwerp Province). In addition to the decoration, the honorary consul was also handed a saber, symbolizing the Order of the Knights of Leopold.

The Order, by the decree of King Philip of Belgium, was presented on 22 April 2019 by a professor at Oxford, advisor to the King of Belgium, Ir Derrick Gosselin, at the Belgian Parliament.

Aleksandar Davidovic is the first Serb to receive this recognition.
