The exhibition "Selection of works by Yugoslav artists from the collection of Alexander Ostojic" was opened at the Consulate General of Serbia in New York, on 15 May, and will be on display until the end of the month.

The Exhibition was mounted with the idea to enable the general public to see part of the collection of paintings created though a long-time work of Alexander Ostojic, owner of the New York Art Gallery. The collection includes forty pieces of art by the most prominent names of the Yugoslav art and sculpture scene.

Aleksandar Ostojic collected the works by Paja Jovanovic, Sava Sumanovic, Milena Pavlovic Barilli, Marko Celebonovic, Ljubomir Popovic and many others, at auctions around the world. "The Portrait of Emperor Franz Josef", painted by Paja Jovanovic in 1912, is one of a dozen portraits of the Austro-Hungarian monarch that this author made. The painting "Portrait of Mother" by Milena Pavlovic Barilli, painted in Rome in 1937, was lost for a long time and bought by Aleksandar Ostojic at an auction in the United States.
