The Serbian Consulate General in Frankfurt am Mein took part in the preparations for the events at the Emperor's Hall of the Frankfurt am Mein City Hall and the Serbian Church to mark 800th anniversary of autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the 10th anniversary of the Central Council of Serbs in Hessen.

The reception hosted for dignitaries on 29 March was attended by Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Veljko Odalovic. In honour of the anniversary of the Serbian community in Frankfurt, the hosts flew a Serbian flag on the balcony of the City Hall.

Consul-General Branko Radovanovic expressed his satisfaction with the anniversary and recalled the importance of the establishment of an umbrella organization bringing together Serbian clubs in Hessen, representing them and protecting their interests before the German authorities.


A photographic exhibition "Together with you for 50 years" was mounted at a reception focusing on the 1969 bilateral agreement between the SFRY and FR of Germany, which was a legal basis for big economic migration from Serbia and former Yugoslav republics to Western Germany.



The Consulate-General organized a meeting between MFA Secretary General Odalovic with presidents of the clubs and associations, President of the Central Council of Serbs in Hessen Miodrag Stojkovic, an owner of "Vesti" daily from Frankfurt Aleksandar Vidakovic, teachers from the Supplementary School in Serbian language and coordinator of supplementary education for Europe Biljana Bukinac.



In the ceremonies hall of the Serbian Church of the Ascension of our Lord, members of Cultural Art Club Leposavic staged a performance at the invitation of the Consulate General with a program related to eight centuries of the autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church.



Cultural events with participation of prominent individuals and associations of Serbian diaspora in this part of Germany as well as officials from several German cities and provincial authorities of Hessen presented an opportunity to promote cooperation and extend support to the people and holy places in Kosovo and Metohija.
