Serbian musicians held a concert "Serbia around the Piano World" at the John. F. Kennedy Millennium Stage for Performing Arts, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. on 25 February.
The main performer was a renowned Serbian pianist of a younger generation Jasna Popovic who conceived the program for this concert based on her "Around the World" project, launched in 2017. Other performers included Petar Krstajic, a bass player and Vocal Group "Rosa" while the artworks of Miljan Suknovic provided visual background for the performance. Vocal Group "Rosa", established in New York in 2014, nurtures authentic Serbian tradition of so-called non-tempered singing. ROSA's members include five members from three continents: Aleksandra Denda (Serbia), Tiffany Wilson (USA), Shilpa Ananth (India), Valentina Blu Lombardi (Italy) and Astrid Kuljanic (Croatia). An hour-long program featured solo and duet musical compositions from Andorra, Brazil, Israel, Italy, USA, Serbia, North Macedonia, Croatia and Spain as well as vocal performances of traditional Serbian songs. The Millennium Stage hall was filled by more than 250 classical music admirers from diplomatic corps, public and academic life as well as from Serbian diaspora. |
