On the occasion of the Statehood Day, the Army Day of Serbia and the 140th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Serbia and Turkey, Ambassador Zoran Markovic hosted a reception for high-ranking officials, diplomatic and military corps, at Sheraton Hotel in Ankara, on 12 February.

In a ceremonial atmosphere, after the Serbian and Turkish anthems were played, Ambassador Markovic and Minister of Sports and Youth of Turkey Mehmet Kasapoglu addressed the guests. It was jointly assessed that the bilateral relations between the two countries were at the highest level in recent history and constituted the basis for further deepening of cooperation and strengthening of trade and investments. The speakers expressed mutual respect and understanding built over several centuries of common history, with many similarities that connected the two peoples even today. In view of the challenges faced by the two countries, mutual support was underlined in all areas of shared interest.



The reception was also attended by Turkish Minister of Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and a number of distinguished personalities from public life, as well as representatives of our expatriate community.
