+ larger fontnormal font- Smaller font
altThe quarterly "Diplomatica" published an interview with Serbian Ambassador Oliver Antic about Serbia in the First World War. The introductory part stipulates that Professor Antic was a well-known and proven scientist, who showed great interest in this period of history.

Speaking about the Great War, Ambassador Antic quoted allied and opposing military leaders, humanitarian workers and state leaders who admired the courage and sacrifice of the Serbian army.

"Recalling the historical facts, Oliver Antic describes the point in time when, at the request of Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Josef I, German Emperor Wilhelm II sent his best Field Marshal Anton Ludwig Friedrich August von Mackensen and his elite military forces, which, along with the Austro-Hungarian army attacked Serbia, followed by the Serbian army's retreat through Albania. Von Mackensen wrote: "We fought an army that we could only hear about in fairy tales, defending themselves with unprecedented courage. For this reason, the Field Marshal also said: "When we conquered Serbia, it hurt us more than it hurt their allies", the Ambassador said.
