Prior to the screening, Ambassador Zorana Vlatkovic gave an introductory address, speaking about the Serbian victims of WWI in which 26% of its entire population, and 52% of its male population died. "Following the WWI victory, a new country was created – the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, allowing the Slovenian people to reach its full national emancipation", said Ambassador Vlatkovic. Over 100 invitees attended the screening – representatives of Slovenian institutions, from MPs to representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomatic corps, as well as the representatives of Serbian diaspora and Serbian Orthodox Church priests. A cocktail reception was hosted after the event, the invitees praised the quality of the film, while the representatives of Slovenian institutions and diplomatic corps expressed their gratitude, saying that for the first time they learned facts about the suffering of the Serbian people in WWI. |
