Rijeka: Concert and film about Milunka Savić marking the centenary of WWI

altOn the occasion of WWI centenary commemoration, the Consulate General of Serbia in Rijeka hosted a concert of the opera music and theater organization MOTO from Belgrade and the screening of the movie "Milunka Savić, the heroine of the Great War", on 16 November.

Compositions by the most famous Serbian composers and war veterans, Stanislav Binicki, Petar Konjovic, Josif Marinkovic, Isidor Bajic, Djordje Marinkovic, Branislav Milosavljevic and Robert Pesut, created in the period and in connection with the First World War, such as "The French Boat is Sailing", " Over There Far Away ","Let the Dawn Break "and so on. The movie "Milunka Savić, the heroine of the Great War", by Slađana Zarić, was screened after the concert.

The concert was also held at the Serbian Cultural Center in Pula, on 17 November, and the screening of film about Milunka Savic took place on 20 November. The same program was on at the Cultural Center in Moravice, on 18 November.

In his speeches made in Rijeka and Moravice, Consul General Goran Petrović spoke about the importance of marking the anniversary of the end of the First World War and the personality and work of Milunka Savić, the heroine with the largest tally of decorations in the First World War. The Consul General thanked the artists from Serbia for accepting the proposal of the Consulate General to hold two more concerts in Rijeka and Gorski Kotar, in addition to the planned concert in Pula, as well as the visitors who came in large numbers and with their expressed emotions supported these programs.
