Chicago: Exhibition "Album of remembrance of our ancestors from WWI" in the Serbian Consulate

altThe exhibition "Album of Remembrance of our ancestors in WWI", will be on show from 10 through 21 November 2018 in the General Consulate in Chicago to mark 100th anniversary of the Armistice Day and Serbian-U.S. alliance. The album contains photos, war diaries, soldiers' letters, postcards, medals and other historiographic materials belonging to the warriors in the First World War, collected by the Association of Descendants of Serbian Warriors.

The event opened with the video depicting the contribution of Serbian army in the WWI and gratitude of the U.S. and President Wilson to Serbian people. Consul Gerent Dejan Radulovic and Aleksandar Vasilis from the Association of Descendants of Serbian Warriors addressed the audience and paid respects in honor of Serbian soldiers from the WWI and thousands of Serbian volunteers from the United States.

A film prepared by the Association of Descendants of Serbian Warriors was screened as part of the program. Milenko Sisarica from the Serbian Theater in Chicago recited poem "Blue Tomb" by Milutin Bojic. A student wearing a Serbian national dress handed out Ramonda Nathalie pins to the guests.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by representatives of U.S. institutions, consular corps as well as of the Serbian organizations and community.

On the occasion of the Armistice Day, actors of the Serbian Theater in Chicago performed the show "Serbian Ramonda" along with folk dance ensemble "Hawk Eye" in Irish-US Center on 11 November.
