Montreal: Memorial plaque placed at the site of the Honorary Consulate of Serbia opened one hundred years ago

altOn the initiative of the Embassy of Serbia, a memorial plaque was unveiled at the site of the Honorary Consulate of Serbia that was established a 100 years ago in Montreal. The plaque was placed on the same building that used to house the first Serbian honorary consulate a 100 years ago, while its replica will be kept in the Historical Archive of the city of Montreal.

In his statement, Ambassador Mihailo Papazoglu said that the plaque commemorating the hundredth anniversary symbolized the good relations and friendship existing between Serbia and Canada and that it would make every Serb living in that country proud. He recalled that two years ago Serbia and Canada observed 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations established between the two countries in 1941.

The ceremony was also attended by Mayor of Montreal Valérie Plante who made a statement. Montreal newspapers "La Poste de Mont- Royal" carried an article on this event.
