![]() Consul General Perin greeted the admirers of poetry and prose present, pointing to the fact that North Rhine-Westphalia was very important for the Republic of Serbia, along with the reminder that this Province was home to the largest Serbian community in Germany. "These relations have lasted for hundreds of years and date back to the times when Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe worked together, when the Grimm brothers translated our popular poems, adages and stories, to the times when poet Aleksa Santic translated the poems of Heinrich Heine. Our Nobel Prize Laureate and former Serbian Ambassador in Berlin Ivo Andric was a great admirer of German poetry, as well as Laza Lazarevic and Branko Radicevic. They built cultural bridges between our two nations and it is our task to continue their work, and we are making our contribution to that effect by this literary soiree", Consul General Branislava Perin Jaric stated. |
