Bordj Bou Arréridj: Ambassador visits leading Algerian companies

altOn 26 September, Serbian Ambassador to Algeria Aleksandar Jankovic visited the city of Bordj Bou Arréridj and local businesses there, namely Condor Electronics, a leading Algerian electronic equipment and home appliance manufacturer, as well as Gerbior, a flour and grain mill product company. The two enterprises are owned by the Benhamadi Group, and the Ambassador took the opportunity to meet with its Chairman of Board of Directors, Mr. Abderrahmane Benhamadi, and take a tour of manufacturing facilities.

Ambassador Jankovic and Mr. Benhamadi stressed the need to strengthen activities to connect the two countries' companies and agreed that Serbia could become the Algerian businesses' breakthrough point to the markets of Eastern Europe. They discussed concrete projects aiming to establish cooperation and ties between Algerian Condor and Serbian partners, both in the field of electronics and small appliances and automotive industry (car tyres). In the meeting, the collocutors also touched upon the prospects for the strengthening of cooperation in a number of areas such as the construction sector, pharmaceuticals and water resources. Mr. Benhamadi accepted the invitation of our Ambassador to visit Serbia and meet with representatives of relevant Serbian companies.

The visit of the Serbian Ambassador to the headquarters of Condor Electronics and Gerbior was widely covered by the Algerian media, such as daily newspapers El Moudjahid, Liberté, Le Temps d'Algérie and web portals N'tic, Djazairess, Reporters. The media reported that the visit had taken place in the context of strengthening the two countries' economic ties, underlining the development capacities of Condor and its interest for partnerships with Serbian businesses in the field of car tyre manufacturing. The above media outlets saw the Algerian company's interest for production of car parts also in the context of the previously announced launch of a Peugeot car assembly plant in Algeria.
